First Impressions
Well, those of my colleagues, rather than myself. Last night I introduced Twitter to my collegial friends for the purposes of growing their personal learning networks. My Yr 6 teaching partner Andy (through some light hearted heckling during the workshop) echoed my thoughts about the process;
Exactly what I have been thinking to myself. I have put a bit of time into planning how exactly I was going to package the concept of online professional collaboration (see here and here) and I’m glad to say that I am happy with how it turned out.
The impression many staff have shared with me is that there is a feeling of excitement and wonder at what this is all about. I think this means I have done my job well in this first instance – staff are open and willing to learn.
I packaged the introduction as a series of challenges – Challenge #1 was to create an account, Challenge #2 was to upload a photo and write a bio, Challenge #3 was to follow some existing colleagues and Challenge #4 was to make their first tweet using the #saspd hashtag that I have introduced for our staff. This simple(ish) process was a great approach upon reflection because it was a bit of fun, but allowed some nice chunking for the more hesitant staff.
So far so good. The challenge from here is to maintain enthusiasm… more challenges!
PS Feel free to say hi to us at #saspd
